Wear Red Day – It is NOT too late…

February 2nd, 2007 by roz

February is National Heart Health Month.

Today, Friday, February 2, 2007 is National Wear Red Day.

National Wear Red Day AKA Go Red for Women Day… is dedicated to bringing awareness to Heart Disease as being the Number One (#1) Killer of Women.

Wear Red eCards (30 – half Judaic in Theme / half non-Judaic – Appropriate for Everyone)

PERSONAL NOTE: This disease hits home for me, my own mother died 30 years ago from Heart Disease.  Things were a lot different in those days — people were very different.  Knowing and understanding my mother much better now… It is my assumption that my mother felt having a chronic illness put a chip in her vanity.  So she did not take proper care of herself and her heart.  She died suddenly in her sleep… at the young age of 66!

I myself have hypertension – high blood pressure.  I do my best to keep it controlled with prescribed medication and scheduled visits to the doctor.  However, the last couple of times I visited the doctor my pressure was higher than it has been in a very long time.  I am seeing a new doctor and he does not seem to be concerned.  He took it a few times when I was there and while I was resting it went down.  He thinks I am one of those people who get nervous when they visit the doctor!  High Blood Pressure, just sneaks up on you and you don’t always know you have it or that it is elevated if you do.  There are many factors that account for an elevation in blood pressure – food, rest, stress, etc.

WE MUST ALL BE diligent and keep an eye on our own health!  ONLY WE know what is normal for our health and our bodies.

Depending on where you are, the day is half over here in NYC.  However, even if you are reading this entry tomorrow, next week or next month, next year… it is NOT TOO LATE to send a Wear Red eCard to ALL the women in your life.

  • Family
  • Friends
  • Loved Ones
  • Significant Others
  • Business Associates
  • Church/Synagogue Friends
  • Etc.

REMIND them how much you care.

REMIND them to take care of their hearts and their health.
